Description:
A lot of text strings are truncated, i.e. last lines are "cut in half" or the last words on a line are cut off when running the Administrator in 1920x1200 resolution (normal 96 DPI setting).

How to repeat:
Change screen resolution to 1920x1200 and run MySQL Administrator. Go through some of the tabs under for instance Startup Variables.

Suggested fix:
Increase the size of the "text controls" used to display prompts and other text in Administrator.

Sorry, type in the original synopsis: It should be 1920x1200 resolution, not 1600x1200.

Thanks for reporting. Could you upload a screenshot showing the truncated text?

Did you try to choose a smaller Application Font in the Option Dialog?

Thanks!

Hi,

Firstly, I'm generally prefer to run my 17" notebook display in 1920x1200 mode and default (96dpi) screen fonts. Even if most screen-text then is too small for 70% of my collegues, it's perfect for me (I have good eye-sight, I guess).

Secondly, I'm using an Arial 9pt Application font with MySQL Administrator - again suitable for my sight. I can reduce the "truncation" by choosing a smaller font - and eliminate it if using 7pt or less - but 7pt fonts are too small for comfort. I CAN read it, but not easily (and almost all of my collegues would not be able to - since I do a lot of training/teaching/lecturing, it's a poor option).

Bottom line: The logical solution to this is to expand the size of the text controls used by a millimetre or two, so as to accommodate all commonly occurring resolutions (1600x1200 is increasingly standard for larger displays, and higher resolutions like 1920x1200 are also increasing).

DPI-settings and font-size are TWO options!

DPI settings will be set on displayproperties -> settings -> advanced(extended?)
font-size can be set on displayproperties -> display(view?)

(sorry, i dont know the original english names for the tabs, im using a german windows version.)

are both at 'normal'?

Thank you for your bug report. This issue has already been fixed
in the latest released version of that product, which you can download at
http://www.mysql.com/downloads/

Additional info:

Note: currently MA does not maintain a dynamic size for these fields so you will still see some cut text if the font is larger than usual. Fixing this requires some significant redesign and will therefore likely not be fixed in the 1.x release line.
