Description:
(continuing from here http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=74070)

Also there was a problem with WB. It was fetched, installed succesfully, but could not launch as the Installer tried to do so. it complained about a missing DL belonging to VC+ 2010 redistributable. I definitely havethsi installed, but tried a repair install using 'vcredist_x64.exe' from Microsoft

I could not launch WB sucessfully from neither start menu or installation folder.

I uninstalled WB, did a fresh WB install using mysql-workbench-community-6.2.3-winx64 and everthing worked.

How to repeat:
Install WB 6,1 2 it) and let MySQL Installer upgrade it to 6.2. Ensure that at least 64 bit version of VC+ 2010 redistributable is installed in advance.

Suggested fix:
I am not sure. But I may have been missing the 32 bit version of this DLL. The installer upgraded the existing 6.1 32 bit version to a 6.2 32 bit version and not the 64 bit verson (what I think must been newly introduced with version 6.2).

At least the error message should be improved telling that a 32 bit .dll is missing on the system. I was geting *nuts* from this error message as obvously had the .dll - but in another *bit-depth* than required (probably)!

But why not upgrade WB to a 64bit version on 64 bit systems?

It looks to me like the Installer was not probably updated to handle that WB is now available as both 32 bit and 64 bit. Probably it was simply overlooked.

IMO There is a huge communication problem between the team producing the Installer and other teams in your organization. This has lasted for years!

Hello Peter,

Thank you for the bug report.
I tried with latest MySQL Installer, and attempted to install/upgrade WB as well and it worked without any issues.
Probably this is fixed, please feel free to reopen this bug report if you encounter this issue again.

Thanks,
Chiranjeevi.
