Description:
I've tried this now on 2 machines.

I discovered this because mysqlAdmin kept crashing mysql (becuase it DESCRIBES the tables).  I re-installed from scratch on a w2k machine & tried to "Describe DB" table in database mysql and it also crashed (so it has nothing specific to do w/ my db).

I did re-install 5.0.1 and the problem appears to have gone away.

How to repeat:
Do a Show Fields [Table] at the mysql command prompt.
