Description:
It would be great if SQL Editor in Workbench could highlight matching parentheses, as some code editors do. It would help in finding syntax errors in complex expressions.

Example: if the cursor is placed next to a paren, the matching paren could be highlighted with bold, a different color, etc.

How to repeat:
n/a

Suggested fix:
n/a

I agree completely. This need to be developed, it will be very helpful. I need to copy my SQL statements to Notepad ++ to see clearly the matching parenthesis. Greetings!

Agree, I cut/paste my queries into an editor that highlights the matching parenthesis. This would be really helpful!

Already 10 minutes on the web to search for this, eventually it's not supported, yet.
So yes, I vote for this feature.

It's 2017 and yet a important feature is still missing.

Please add this feature if you can. For some of us is the reason why we quit workbench

If that were the case, this FR would have been closed.

Fixed as of the upcoming MySQL Workbench 8.0.16 release, and here's the changelog entry:

The script editor now supports highlighting a matching pair of parenthesis
when one of the pair is selected.

Thank you for the bug report.
