Description:
When you try to open a SQL file in OSX and select to open with MySQL Workbench, a popup error message "Unrecognized File Type” appears.

How to repeat:
Look for a .sql file in your OSX and select to open with MySQL Workbench

Suggested fix:
Open the file correctly, SQL is the default file format for query files. :)
