Description:
I reference to bug#457, Monty's comment

"I agree that the error message is far from perfect and we shall change that ASAP"

The error message still needs to be changed.

t.frm does in fact exist, so the error message is extremely misleaing.

How to repeat:
Please see http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=457

Suggested fix:
Make the server report type mismatch rather than "can't open file".

This is a bug, not a feature request

Verified on 4.1.8 BK source Linux and 4.0.22 Windows.

This is already fixed in 5.0, and the decision was made not to back-port the fix.
