Description:
This is the same bug as Bug #70272 but in different OS and Workbench releases releases which is totaly ignored because it was not reproduced.

I have this issue with 2 ubuntu boxes (32bits and 64bits). I don't have it on virtual machines.

Recently I found this trouble is due to the code completion into the SQL Editor and the way to work around is to untick "Productivity - Enable Code Completion in Editors" in preferences.

System info:
 	MySQL Workbench Community (GPL) for Linux/Unix version 6.0.8 revision 11354 build 833
	Configuration Directory: /home/phl/.mysql/workbench
	Data Directory: /usr/share/mysql-workbench
	Cairo Version: 1.10.2
	OS: Linux 3.2.0-58-generic
	CPU: 2x AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2000.000 MHz, 3,9 GB RAM
	Distribution: Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS

How to repeat:
Type a query in the SQL editor containing spaces
  select count(*) from mysql.user;

Sorry, I didn't get any email asking for information request.

The version I am running is not translated and use English.
I suppose this is the "Common" version.

If you need more details, do not hesitate to ask.

I just made this try:
$ export LANG=C
$ export LANGUAGE=en
$ mysql-workbench
  => tick Edit/preferences/SQL Editor/Enable Code Completion in Editors
  The trouble is reproduced: No white space given using space bar into SQL Editor
  => untick Edit/preferences/SQL Editor/Enable Code Completion in Editors
  It is OK, the space bar do its job
