I have the same problem. I cannot remove the "MySQL for Visual Studio 1.0.2" component, nor can I upgrade it. Add/remove programs does not work. The MySQL Installer utility does not work. I am stuck. The log file seems to mention Visual Studio 2008, which I no longer have installed, but which I did have when I installed the MySql software initiallyI am unsure if that is relevant information. I am attaching the log file.

Attaching the log file from running msiexec -x mysql-visualstudio-plugin-1.0.2.msi.

Was finally able to successfully uninstall using the free version of Revo Uninstaller, via the default settings.
