Description:
I installed the MySQL Query Browser application on my computer. When I try to connect to a MySQL database, I get the following error message..

Could not connect to the specified instance

MySQL Error Number 2003
Can't connect to MySQL Server on "localhost" (10061)

If you want to check the network connection, please click the PING button.

I have clicked the ping button, seems to work fine.

I am new to this and not sure why I cannot connect to the database.

Thanks

How to repeat:
To repeat, you would need to install the MySQL query browser on WIndows XP Pro, and try tro connect to a localhost MySQL database.
