Please check for duplicate with http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=70262 (check the workaround).

Thanks, I'm not sure this is the same issue as http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=70262 (check the workaround), but if it is I don't really understand what "Ok guys, no need to answer my post, the problem is fixed, I just renamed the folder "C:\Users\yourUsername\AppData\Roaming\MySQL\Workbench" that was previously created by an earlier used version (recommended on previous post)." Means as it doesn't say what he changed it from. I now can't open MySQL notifier as this throws a high severity error, object reference not set to an instance of object. Any more thoughts. Regards Stephen

The workaround I asked you is to rename the folder: "C:\Users\yourUsername\AppData\Roaming\MySQL\Workbench" change the yourUsername which the actual one. The Notifier is another issue already reported and verified. Thanks.

I can't find any folders named "yourUsername", so I can't rename them. Am I understanding you correctly is that what I'm looking for? This is what I think you mean by The workaround I asked you is to rename the folder: "C:\Users\yourUsername\AppData\Roaming\MySQL\Workbench" change the yourUsername which the actual one. Is there a work around for the notifier problem. Regards Stephen

yourUsername doesn't exits I placed it in the path so you change it with the real user lodged I assumed it's your name user. There is no workaround for the notifier just to wait for the fix in new release.

You must think I'm doing this deliberately so I apologies but from what you have written it isn't clear what I'm supposed to be looking for or changing, not to the lay person anyway. Please keep in mind what I've done, i.e. completely uninstalled MySQL and re-installed on another hard drive and it still doesn't work. I think this is probably another bug that needs attention before your next release. At the moment I can't use MySQL on this PC which is not exactly ideal. Regards for you efforts Stephen
