Could you state the server version you are using?

If you are using 5.0.2, this is a bug in the server. It has been fixed and the fix will be in release 5.0.3.

Until then it is not possible to use any GUI tool with the server.

just started using version: 5.0.2-alpha-nt (Windows NT, essential). On Describe table (example describe table1 ), results in MYSQLD-NT - Application error. Later need to start the service and login to mysql again.
