Description:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/supported-os.html
"Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008. See Section 2.3, “Installing MySQL on Microsoft Windows”."

How to repeat:
read docs!

Suggested fix:
You cannot be serious that Windows7, Windows8 (and same generations of Windows server systems are not supported)?

+ http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/supported-os.html
.. say the same.

BTW .. didn't I find statements here in bugs.mysql that Windows XP is NOT supported with MySQL 5.6?

Added "5.7" in *Version*.

I wonder the docs are trying to duplicate the information. This should be the list:
http://www.mysql.com/support/supportedplatforms/database.html
[18 Aug 2013 12:22] Peter Laursen
.. and in my second posting the link should have been:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/supported-os.html
