Description:
the installation of MySQL for Excel 1.1.1 fails because the MySQL installer does not detect the presence of Visual Studio Tools for Office 2010 Runtime (VSTOR). After opening the MySQL installer and checking the box for MySQL for Excel under Applications, I get to the Check Requirements window. There the installer prompts me to install VSTOR, I press execute and a pop-up opens asking me to either repair or uninstall VSTOR. I click repair, a number of files are installed and it says that VSTOR was successfully repaired. Back in the Check Requirements window the box for VSTOR remains nevertheless unchecked and I am again asked to install VSTOR.

The same problem was described by someone else in the forum:
http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?169,563914,563914

I tried two more things which did not help:
- I uninstalled and reinstalled the entire MySQL.
- I uninstalled and reinstalled VSTOR outside of the MySQL installer.

Also recheck requirements is impossible because there is NO Re-Check button

How to repeat:
Install MySQL for Windows with the MSI and include MySQL for Excel 1.1.1

No Re-Check Button!

Successful "repair". Yay. Everything will be fine, now. NOT.

Still a problem in November 2014 with the latest mysql installer of 5.6.21.1 on Windows 7 64 bit that the requirement for installing the "MySql for Excel" is not fulfilled (although it was manually installed before).

Installer doesnt find the 64bit Visual Studio Tools for Office. It starts to install the missing software automatically after pressing the Execute button, but when it comes to the requirements checking again, it once again doesnt detect the Visual Studio Tools for Office 64 bit. Simply doesnt work.

Workaround: install the MySql for Excel manuall, via

Hello icesurfer malikijabal,

Thank you for your feedback.
I tried with latest versions of MySQL 5.6.31 Installer as well and it worked without any issues.
Probably this is fixed, please feel free to reopen this bug report if you encounter this issue again.

Thanks,
Chiranjeevi.
