Description:
I am trying to install MySQL 5.6 on my Windows XP SP3 system
But everytime i am getting the error while configuring the MySQL server 5.6.12:

Unable to update security settings.Reading from the stream has failed.

I read other posts about this and have tried different solutions also :
1. Changed the default data path
2. completely removed the mysql including the data directories also
3. deleted the service associated and reinstalled
But still this error is preventing from server configuration.

How do i remove this error?

How do i remove this error?

How to repeat:
Download and install windows msi installer for MySQL 5.6

System specs :
Windows XP SP3
.net framework 3.5

In the configuration tab, while configuring the MySQL server 5.6.12 error occurs

Suggested fix:
The problem seems to be with the compatibility of this version but i have tried other versions also and they didn't work as well.

Can i use 5.5.32 for Windows XP SP3 ?
If not then which is the latest version supported for XP?

SOLVED. In my case, 2003 spanish version, I've created folder 'Programs' under 
'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Menú Inicio\' and copied folder 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Menú Inicio\Programas\MySQL'
