Description:
Trying to create a new server instance, just download the new MySQL and Workbench, but got stuck at the "Test Settings" screen with the message:
Error: File /etc/my.cnf doesn't exist

Been searching the internet for answers , no luck so far...

How to repeat:
Just trying to create a new server instance on the workbench, all new installation, and the PC is new as well, the PKG information does no explain this issue...

Suggested fix:
Just to help on how do I create that fileā€¦ on the installation process was not created

Thank you for the bug report. On Mac isn't created the my.cnf file for the install process you need to create it. You can create it using the /usr/local/mysql/support-files/my-default.cnf as template for /etc/my.cnf.
