Workaround: the overview is there, it's just scrolled down out of view. If you scroll up, you will get it back.

Fixed as of MySQL Workbench 6.0.7, and here's the changelog entry: On Mac OS X, an empty the Model Overview tab was empty. Thank you for the bug report.
