Description:
Please re-open and review http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=59198.
THE BUG: Cant start "Server Administration" after a clean install (see details below).
The analysis by [5 Jan 2011 9:00] Mike Lischke points to a presumed reason, which is WRONG.

This bug is NOT gone! I have the same error occurring in the context of MySQL Workbench v. 5.2.46, after installing a complete MySQL on Windows 7 Professional from mysql-installer-community-5.6.10.0.msi.
From a fresh installation, with the default server instance only, the problem arises when you click on Server Administration. This throws the error: " Error Starting Workbench Administrator, AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'parameterValues' ".
The button "Create a New Server Instance" DOES work however. So I created a new server instance, and tried to make it inherit all the characteristics of the original server instance. Initially the new server instance didnt quite work, so I opened the new server instance and found some characteristics were missing; so I manually added missing characteristics so that the new instance has ALL the characteristics of the original one. This includes the basedir and datadir parameters.
So now there are TWO instances. Both work. THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM GOES AWAY. Now you can click on Server Administration and it will start correctly, and will see both server instances.
But there's more: I now deleted the original server instance, and renamed the new one to the name of the original one. So now there is only ONE server instance, with supposedly the same characteristics as the original one. But something must be slightly different, because the underlying problem is still GONE - that is, clicking on "Server Administration" DOES work now.
This sequence of "fixing" the problem might point developers to the underlying problem so it can be definitively corrected.

How to repeat:
1) Clean install of mysql-installer-community-5.6.10.0.msi, including MySQL Workbench 5.2.46 on Windows 7 Professional (64bit system).
MySQL is set to run as a service.
2) Note that there is only 1 server instance.
3) Click on "Server Administration" This generates the error: " Error Starting Workbench Administrator, AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'parameterValues' "

Workbench Version and Fault Message

Could you check whether this happens with WB 6.0.2 beta?
[15 Jun 2013 19:23] Doug Donohue
The (Workbench Administrator AttrinuteError: 'None Type' object has no attribute 'parameterValues') fault does not exits for me using Workbench v6.02 beta.

FWIW - the most difficulty I had was learning that the pulled back corner of the connection box was the path to server, query and admin areas.

I happen to find that on Win7 this issue does not appear when I login in as an Administrator. The issue appears after first few runs for a power user persists in Workbench 5.2 CE.

Waiting for feedback from original reported with 6.0.2

Hi!
The Problem is not solved. Today i get the same error. After the Installation i could me log on as admin. On the second logon i get this error. I uninstalled the program and installed it new. The same result. the first Login was ok, the second give me the error again.

For info -
Workaround for WorkBench version 5 is separate server instance for admin and query connections.
For me the problem does not exist in WorkBench version 6.02 Beta.
[6 Aug 2013 22:26] Alfredo Kojima
Peter, please try the latest 6.0.5 version. If the problem still occurs, attach the wb.log file after you repeat the issue and click OK in the error dialog.
[6 Sep 2013 4:07] Carlos Parra
I'm getting the same error with a clean install on Windows 8.
I cannot use the Server Administration functions, for example the Manage Import / Export link.

Carlos, 5.2.47 is no longer supported, please upgrade to at least 6.0.9

I'm closing the bug, as everyone who has tried 6.0.x reports it works.
