I am sorry that your initial experience with MySQL 5.6 was not as good as expected. I will ask the team responsible for the Windows installer to take a look at this. Hopefully the workaround will provide a clue to what is going on.

The Windows Installer team informs me that as of 2013-02-15, there is a new version of the Windows Installer package available (5.6.10.1). A number of problems have been fixed here, so please give that a try. The advice is to start with a clean install: start MySQL Installer and remove all 5.6 products + check to clean the MySQL data + the MySQL Installer itself.
