Description:
MySQL 5.6.9 RC individual installers don't install/start MySQL Service

How to repeat:
1 - Download MySQL 5.6.9 individual installers: mysql-5.5.28-win32.msi or mysql-5.5.28-winx64.msi
2 - Install MySQL.
2 - MySQL service is not installed.
3 - MySQL service is not started.

also MySQL install wizard is missing, so even my.ini is not created.

for step 1 I mean:

1 - Download MySQL 5.6.9 individual installers: mysql-5.6.9-rc-win32.msi or mysql-5.6.9-rc-winx64.msi

There are two problems here.

The first one is that the individual installers for MySQL Server 5.6 are not meant to be used any more (the config wizard has been removed as of 5.6.6). The fact that these were available is an error that has now been corrected.

The way to install MySQL Server 5.6 is to use the Windows installer packages (click on the banner on the download page).

This brings us to the second problem, which is that 5.6.9-rc has not been made available for download in this way yet. Hopefully that too will be fixed soon.

MySQL Installer 5.6.9 rc is now available for download on http://dev.mysql.com

Please try this out. I will close this bug now.
