How to repeat:
Can't set up a connection to a new database through server administration.
My computer works via wireless connection not landline and it appears My SQL can't tlk to the wireless network, it is a Virgin Media Broadband/wireless hub.

Are you able to connect with the command client mysql.exe?. Thanks.

Not sure how this bug site works.   I had assumed a response will be added somewhere in this page but I can't see a response and I am unable to use MySQL, very disapointed.

Hi, sorry getting the hang of this.

Have gone to Command Prompt and directory where mysql.exe is located.   Got ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (100610) after typing in mysql.exe.

Sorry for the delay. Then you are not able to connect with mysql.exe too. Please check if actually the server is running (Control Panel service or Task Manager mysqld process).

If the server is running then check if you are using the user and password correctly i.e:

mysql -uroot -p
