Description:
When installing mysql-4.1.7-essential-win.msi application, in the configuration process, in the last step the service cannot start and installation fails. Even after a successfull installation (without starting up the service), and using MySQL System Tray Monitor, the service cannot start also.

How to repeat:
Install mysql-4.1.7-essential-win.msi and in the configuration process make sure to start the service in the end of the configuration.

Suggested fix:
I think that there is a problem with the registration of the location of the executable in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MySQL\

the executable should be 'mysqld-nt' and not 'mysqld-max-nt' for the essential package. I also found some people on the mysql foruns complaining about a similar problem.
