Description:
Upon upgrading to v5.2.43, I kept receiving various Workbench crashes, primarily when opening Workbench it would crash, losing all the SQL tabs, and the subsequent attempt to open Workbench would succeed with all SQL tabs missing.
I decided to downgrade back to v5.2.42, which appeared to work. However, since rebooting my machine, MySQL Workbench main workspace page has become unresponsive to clicks.
Trying to open a stored connection fails, I cannot click "Manage Connections" link, or anything at all. Server Administration is acting the same way, I can see all the connections, but I cannot click on any of them to open, or Manage Server Instances, etc.
Convinced it had something to do with downgrading to 5.2.42, I re-installed 5.2.43 only to find that the problem was still there. Rebooting also did not correct this.
HELP! I cannot manage my servers!
NOTE: I did find a workaround to connect using Database > Query Database... menu option (Command-U). However, I cannot perform any form of Server Administration whatsoever.
I even tried using the keyboard to activate a stored connection (by pressing Enter) but that didn't work either.
How to repeat:
I'm not 100% confident this can reproduce, but these were my steps:
1. Have been a long time user of MySQL Workbench -- over 1 year's worth of use on previous version, progressively upgraded over time.
2. Upgrade to latest 5.2.43: open program and use for a while. (subsequent open / closes, a few crashes, etc)
3. Downgrade to previous 5.2.42:open program and use with no noticeable issues.
4. Reboot machine
5. Open Workbench to find the main page workspace (SQL Development, Server Administration, etc) unresponsive to clicks, unable to connect to stored connections or perform server administration.
6. Re-install 5.2.43 in attempt to correct, with no luck.
7. Reboot. No luck.
Suggested fix:
Please let me know if I can assist in providing any kind of debug to help troubleshoot. In the meantime, I'm sure I can back everything up and start from scratch, but I really don't want to lose my preferences, stored connections, SQL history, etc if at all possible.
