Description:
I am unable to upgrade the installed version of Connector/Net due to the error message "A previous version of Connector/Net 6.3 or higher is already installed. Please uninstall that version first."

Other bugs reference that this could be caused by a failed installation attempt of a higher version, but none of the reported bugs resolve the issue.

How to repeat:
Apparently this is only repeatable if there has been a failed installation attempt of a version higher than 6.3.

I believe that my failed attempt could have been while installing WordPress to a new web site via Microsoft's Web Platform Installer, however no "uninstall" options appear to be available on the Control Panel, in the folder found in Program Files (x86), nor through some tools from Microsoft.

There are a few registry keys present in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Installer\Folders, but all point to an earlier version of 6.2.3.

Suggested fix:
It would be great if there could be an installer that would "clean up" behind itself and remove any of the "lint" left behind from other attempts, failed or otherwise, instead of the hard failure that I'm currently experiencing.
