Description:
I am trying to install MySQL on my Windows 7 computer, but can't get beyond the configuration screen. Keep getting error 'Configuration failed. Check details for more information'. Under details the error is 'Unable to configure service.'

How to repeat:
Install on Windows 7 using file mysql-installer-community-5.5.27.1.msi

Is this a fresh installation or you had some older MySQL 5.x.y installed on this box and upgraded?

This is a fresh install. I have never used MySQL before. I am trying to setup a WordPress dev box for myself.

I guess the install just needed the fear of an expert looking at it. I cleaned out everything and started a new install, and this time it went like a charm.

Thank you for your help.

Please close out this bug.
