Thank you for reporting the problem in Connector/ODBC 3.51. We know about it already. This bug is marked as a duplicate of bug 65328.

Description: when configuring a new ODBC data source connection using 3.51.30, there is a 'Test' button which confirms the connection is successful. On using this button, the message is displayed: "Connection Failed: [HY000][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Access denied for user 'asp0022'@'%'to database '{asp0022-DATABASE-SQL}'" - where asp0022 is the user. This message is misleading as all applications using this connector are able to connect and query the database. This error did not occur in 3.51.24.
