Description:
Installed newest odbc connector (5.1.10), 32-bit, 64-bit, and both on 64-bit Win7 Pro system using excel pro plus 2010 (14.0.6112.5000, 64-bit).
Configured odbc data source mysql 32-bit and mysql 64-bit and both test connection successfully.

When attempting to connect excel to mysql via odbc connections, it crashes as described below.

How to repeat:
Insert, pivot table, use an external data source (choose connection), browse more, new source, odbc dsn, dsn mysql 32-bit (or 64-bit), select specific table (check on "connect to a specific table") and it works fine. Uncheck "connect to a specific table", click next, finish and excel crashes. Crash report is:

BTW, I tried 5.1.10 on two different windows 7 pro machines with same outcomes.

Jim, is the problem repeatable in 32-bit excel?
[17 Apr 2012 11:56] Jim Van Overschelde
I don't have access to a 32-bit version of excel.

When I click "Browse for More..." button Excel displays the dialog for opening a file DSN. MySQL Connector/ODBC does not officially support file DSNs. Did you try opening previously created System DSN?
