Description:
I am trying to install the mysql server on my system, 64 bit windows 7 enterprise edition. I am using the installer package 5.5.20 x64. On reaching the second step in the configuration process after pressing execute the installer hangs, hence I am unable to install the server. 
Also i tried to download the zip folder extract the files and use it but in that I am unable to create a database and tables due to grant/ privileges constraints. Its showing that I have only USE grants available.
PLEASE ASSIST me to how to install it and continue with my work.

How to repeat:
I downloaded the installer, installed it, after that uninstalled it, then again tried to install it, that's when it hangs @ the second step of running the configuration after clicking the execute button.

Using the Control Panel verify if even the start service failed the server and others components were installed, remove the MySQL server using the Control Panel and if you don't have data to preserve remove the data directory with administrator privileges, The data directory in the default directory is located at:

C:\ProgramData\MySQL>dir "MySQL Server 5.5"
 Volume in drive C has no label.
 Volume Serial Number is A423-3779

 Directory of C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5

Also it makes sense to try newer version, 5.5.21, now.

Hi, I'm having the same issue with the new msi installer for 5.5.27 - winx64

I'm also running windows 7 enterprise edition.  It installed fine originally, but now after an uninstall, it won't re-install!
