What exact actions should one do to provoke error in mysql client that hangs is? Also, please, check if the same problem still happens with a newer version, 5.5.20.

for any error,like syntax,wrong datatypes etc.i tries with new version also.same problem,in configuration settings security is giving an error,and in command client same problem repeats..

I couldn't repeat with 5.5.20 on Windows 7 64-bits.

but 5.5.20 is not getting installed fully..there is error in configuring at security option...but its working with previous problem of hanging...

if you disable beeping on error, does it hang? aka: mysql.exe --no-defaults --no-beep -h127.0.0.1 -uroot -p
