Description:
I am trying to use the MySQL Migration Toolkit version 1.1.4 rc but the next error appers: "An error ocurred during the initialization of the runtime system. Please make sure you have the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 8 installed". However, I have the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 7.0 Update 1 installed in my desktop.

How to repeat:
1. Install the MySQL GUI Tools v5.0 r4 - Win32 
2. Install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 7.0 Update 1
3. Run the MySQL Migration Toolkit version 1.1.4 rc 
With these steps the next error will apper: "An error ocurred during the initialization of the runtime system. Please make sure you have the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 8 installed".

Suggested fix:
Update the MySQL GUI Tools v5.0 r4 - Win32 in order to run the MySQL Migration Toolkit version 1.1.4 rc without the need to uninstall the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 7.0 Update 1 and install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 8

Sorry, but Migration Toolkit is NOT supported for a long time already. 

In any case, try to find newer version. Latest one was 1.1.17 or so, as far as I remember...
