Description:
i installed binary administrator to /opt as suggested. when i run the app., the menu to enter user/pw appears, i enter root, pw, 127.0.0.1 (default port) and click ok. looks like it's trying to connect then nothing - back to term with segmentation fault at line 9 $MYPATH/mysql-administrator-bin.

could this be a problem with my being logged in as root to the machine? what am i doing wrong. i've also tried to build the administrator from source, but i keep getting pkg_configre_path problems for glade 2.0

i really need this to work, so can someone please help.

How to repeat:
as above

do you have any ideas about why this might be happening? that would be more informative than just "i can't repeat the behavior." fact is, it is happening even if you can't repeat it.

as an example of what might be some ideas that you might have, how about various environment variables that, if misconfigured, could generate this problem. i would really appreciate some more help on this.

i believe that the app runs on your machine. what i need is help running it on my machine. what would cause a segmentation fault at line nine when running mysql-administrator? please advise.

turns out that the grant tables were not configured properly. i still maintain that this app crashed too hard. it should give an error message. actually, having just installed mysql on windows, it seems to me that having a graphical installer would be really nice. perhaps the administrator could tell that no grant tables are setup and could run a graphical configurator.

in short, it seems to me that if you're going to go to the trouble to create guis for everything, shouldn't the setup/install be given equal treatment? this is especially true if you're trying to be competitive with windows users who are helpless in the face of a command-line prompt.

just some feedback...gg
