Description:
Data Export and Restore section/functions are in general unstable and unreliable. Ill try to make one report per perceived problem.

Starting the administrator, and quickly switching to "Data Export and Restore" quite often invokes a fatal crash.
On other occasions it works beautifully, no apparent pattern is emerging.

General info:
I'm connected to remote databases using a stable 10/2Mbit DSL connection.
The servers has 15 different Database Objects (about 100mb of data each) with about 40 tables each.
I try to do regular data dumping as a sort of version control for the current project, i have switched to mysqldump since this just isnt working.

Use Data Export and Restore continuously for a while.
Go back and forth between different items in the left menu.
Do several data dumps.

What exact server version, 5.x.y, are you working with? Do you have any other, concurrent activity on this server when you try to export data? I wonder if this is just some lock wait related problem.

Same problem various servers, but these two running now.
5.1.58-1ubuntu
5.0.51a-3ubuntu5.5

Nothing running on the servers except MySQL and various OS related processes (no apache etc) no one else is working on the data.
The application using the data only does simple Selects towards what is largely myism tables (some inno).
But, even so, it still fails sometimes when no other clients are connected to the database, and on multiple systems.

How much data is in the tables, how long does it take to perform the dump (when it's able to finish) and how slow is the connection?
[1 Nov 2011 8:34] Bengt Walther
119 Mb
9 Minutes
Measured to 10 Mbit/s

I was able to repeat this crash as described, although only once out of several tries.

Does this still happen with WB 6.0.2?

Closing as can't repeat, as this is an old bug and there's no evidence of it still being around
