What exact server version, 5.x.y, are you working with? Do you have any other, concurrent activity on this server when you try to export data? I wonder if this is just some lock wait related problem.

Same problem various servers, but these two running now. 5.1.58-1ubuntu 5.0.51a-3ubuntu5.5 Nothing running on the servers except MySQL and various OS related processes (no apache etc) no one else is working on the data. The application using the data only does simple Selects towards what is largely myism tables (some inno). But, even so, it still fails sometimes when no other clients are connected to the database, and on multiple systems.

How much data is in the tables, how long does it take to perform the dump (when it's able to finish) and how slow is the connection?

I was able to repeat this crash as described, although only once out of several tries.

Does this still happen with WB 6.0.2?

Closing as can't repeat, as this is an old bug and there's no evidence of it still being around
