Description:
After attempting to install MySQL 5.5.16 on Server 2003, I made it through the entire process until the step where the installer GUI attempts to start the MySQL Service, the service was not able to start.

I uninstalled MySQL products and cleaned out the remaining folders and attempted to reinstall. At the point where the Installer GUI attempts to check for updated versions, it cannot do so and issues the error: "There is an error downloanding the Product Catalog. Please check your connection and try again later. The error was: The remote server returned an error: (502) Bad Gateway"

I attempted to continue with installation, but was unable to do so since the process must make a similar server contact to complete installation.

The confusing part is that during my first attempt at installation, these steps were completed successfully, only during reinstallation did I experience this problem.

How to repeat:
Install v5.5.16 using the Windows interface on a server running Windows Server 2003 SP2. Choose Full Installation and Server options. Final installation process that attempts to start MySQL Service will fail. Uninstall MySQL products and delete remaining folders, restart server and attempt to reinstall.

Additional note: I was able to install successfully on my localhost -- which is running Windows 7, IIS v7.5, .NET v4.
