Couldn't repeat on Vista 64-bit. Did you delete the Arial font or some other system font?

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) solved the issue for me. I only had the 64 bit package installed when the program crashed.

No fonts or system files have been removed. I have reinstalled C++ x86 and x64 no change

The problem is with the Arial font itself i just went and deleted the font and redownloaded the font http://sourceforge.net/projects/corefonts/files/the%20fonts/final/arialb32.exe/download Workbench is now starting up

Joseph, This has resolved the issue. Had to run in Admin (/active:yes) for it to work first time, logged off in to my normal a/c and it started up many thanks

This is not considered a workbench bug.
