Hey!
[3 Aug 2011 10:38] Valeriy Kravchuk
Please, try to start it from cmd.exe command line window with -swrendering option:

MySQLWorkbench.exe -swrendering

I wonder if this will make any difference.
[4 Aug 2011 17:09] Dimon Akulich
Does not work.

I've installed "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)". Now it looks like everything is working.
[15 Aug 2011 21:15] MySQL Verification Team
Are you tried to re-install?. Thanks.
[28 Aug 2011 6:37] Mark Robinson
I was having the same problem as well on Win7(x64).

I can confirm that installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) fixed the problem for me as well.

I am having the same "MySQL Workbench has stopped working" message. It worked yesterday, but stopped working today. Today I did performed the updates that you see in the image I uploaded. When I try to run the program via the command line i get the following error.

Unhandled Exception: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

Based on the application error from above (Faulting module name: atioglxx.dll), I started playing around with the graphs drivers. I have two graphics cards in my machine. If I update to the latest drivers for the newer graphics card, I can get workbench to work. The problem is that windows disables the second graphics card, which means I can't use my other monitors. If I let windows configure the drivers, I can use both graphics cards, but not workbench. I will upload a screen shot from device manager, which shows the Microsoft Drivers being used, which workbench doesn't like.

So, is there a fix for this or not?

I have the same problem on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.
[9 Mar 2012 13:24] Joe Grasse
Don, I can get the latest release (5.2.38) to work if I use the -swrendering option
[23 Jul 2012 17:30] Philip Olson
This has been fixed as of the soon-to-be-released Workbench 5.2.41, and
here's the changelog entry:

OpenGL determination at startup has been disabled, and instead this
check is performed while creating diagrams. The system could fail at
startup, so now MySQL Workbench avoids this startup trouble and can better
fall back to software rendering if necessary.

MySQL Workbench would also silently fail to load if "Microsoft Visual C++
2010 Redistributable Package" was not available. This is now checked and
reported to the user.
[10 Aug 2012 22:42] Paulo Avelar
I'm trying MySQL Workbench version 5.2.41, but it does not start for me...
on Windows7.
I have re-installed the visual c++ redistributable and .net as per requirement but still it does not start...
