Description:
With a connection established to a local DB, the workbench displayed a message stating that it could not retrieve the current system variables when trying to open the "server administration -> status and system variables" option because it lost the connection with the database (which was not true since I checked it and the server was up and running and the rest of the tabs I had open, e.g. SQL editor, worked correctly). I tried again closing the tab and going again to that option and then I got the crash error...

Tabs opened at that moment: SQL Editor, MySQL doc library, MySQL Model

Hope it helps.

How to repeat:

I tried to reproduce the problem but at the moment everything seems to be OK.

Suggested fix:
Restart workbench.
