Please, check if the same problem happens with a newer version, 5.2.33b.

Please also tell whether your connection name has any non-alphanumeric/space characters.
[6 Apr 2011 1:35] Dennis Cheung
The problem preside in version 5.2.33b.
The connection name does contain non-alphanumeric/space characters.

The default schema might left unset to reproduce the problem.
If I specify a database name in the connection manager, can work in some cases.

I'm having the same problem. Everytime I try to do a query I get an error window that pops up and says, "External component has thrown an exception". I'm running MySQL Workbench 5.2 CE.

Is there a fix for his issue?

Thanks

Can you try a 5.2.34-pre1 TEST binary from ftp://ftp.mysql.com/pub/mysql/download/gui-tools/snapshot/ and report if that problem is solved?
[12 May 2011 13:19] Dennis Cheung
@Alfredo Kojima

I cannot try. Because I cannot download

Command:	PASV
Response:	500 OOPS: vsf_sysutil_bind
Command:	PORT 0,0,0,0,17,208
Error:	Could not write to socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer
Error:	Disconnected from server
Error:	Failed to retrieve directory listing

What about ftp://ftp.mysql.com/pub/mysql/download/gui-tools/snapshot/mysql-workbench-gpl-5.2.34-pre1-...
