The dropdown has been replaced with dbl-click on the schema in the list or by setting Set Default from the context menu.

So there is now no *visual display* of what current default database is?

The name of the default database is printed in bold in the schemas list. This should be clearly visible if you have more than 1 database on the server. The only problem is really when you scroll down/up, there is no *visual display* of the default database.
