It is that behavior all the time repeatable for you?. I already saw that issue on my side I wasn't able to repeat.

Yes. with reboots, cold start, etc, waiting several days, same problem. I can use the browser no problem but I have the same problem with all the tools under server administration thanks, joel

Thank you for the feedback. If I understood you, that happens after a long time in use (maybe days) right?

No - it happened from the second I installed the release. Totally consistent My guess is that it's an uninitaized pointer or something like that - that is just taking a random value which in my case causes the problems - but that's just a guess.

My MySQL Workbench had the same behaviour after the 5.2.31 upgrade. I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. I was able to bypass the problem after going in the Manage Server Instances option, editing the connection (without any change) and testing the connection.

You're a Genius!!! that fixed it for me. It's still of course a big - but the workaround is pretty simple so I downgraded it to non-critical thanks, joel

I'm now seeing this with Windows 2008 R2 SP1 - I have tried the test connection workaround but it makes no difference. I hadn't used this Workbench in a while, not since upgrading to MySQL 5.5.8 but I needed to use it when for some reason upgrading to 5.5.9 did something to my root access as nothing would accept my password. I reverted to 5.5.8 and I could connect as root again, so I was going to try resetting the root password - however the Workbench won't let me in due to this error.

Just discovered a workaround Open MySQL Workbench Click Manage Server Instances Select System Profile tab Check box(es) to acquire Admin privileges

I just installed 5.2.31 CE on Windows Server 2008 Standard (x64) Service Pack 2 (build 6002). I tried to follow the advice from the message below, but my options are greyed out so I'm not able to check the Acquire Admin Rights check box so I'm dead in the water with this error. Open MySQL Workbench Click Manage Server Instances Select System Profile tab Check box(es) to acquire Admin privileges

Hi, I was having the same problem in windows 7 x64 connecting to a Mysql Linux server. My problem was that in Manage Server Instances -> System Profile there where an incorrect entry from System Type and subsequent configuration. By default on windows system "System Type" was Windows, then I've changed to Linux with other correct parameters and it worked fine !!!

Thanks for your report Yves. Can you please let us know if your server instance, in the "system profile" tab the "System Type" is set to "Windows"? If that is the case, can you please attach a couple of screen shots of the configuration that you are using and the error?. Is this happening after a WB update? If that is the case, from which version are you updating? Can you please attach the output that you get from: Help-> System Info? Thanks.

Hi, «let us know if your server instance, in the "system profile" tab the "System Type" is set to "Windows"?» I can't tell you if the system type is Windows because when I click on 'Server administration' in Workbench I receive the message: 'Error starting Workbench administrator, Exception : Current profile have no WMI enabled' This is a brand new machine, MySql et WB installation.

Can you attach the server_instances.xml (you may edit for sensitive info, if any) file located in %UserInfo%\AppData\MySQL\Workbench ?

Hi, I have forget to tell you something. I am accessing this mysql server via a vpn via a remote desktop connection. In Workbench, when I clic on any administration option, I get the message about the WMI. I have upload the file you ask for. Yves

Hello, I think 5.2.36 did not have the problem (at least I did not notice), however 5.3.37 defintly has. I am running windows7 64 bit here fully patched - starting the workbench is no problem - but as soon as you want to manage the server it is "bingo" - for info if you run the workbench with start as administrator is goes wrong (no wmi) - and even when logged in as administrator the problem is there Sinverely, Louis

Hello, Since I needed the workbench and .37 did not work - I did remove .37 - and installed .36 That did not solve the probem. So, I reinstalled .37, still not working Note that: - I recently reinstalled a "clean" windows systempartion backup - and updated a lot of things among them the workbench (no Idea what version was on the backup. Since the backup was dated june 13 2011 I asume it was 5.2.x - so the problem can be inherite from a version which was there before (but I asume that version was working) - I turned of the windows firewall for a moment, to check if that was perhaps the problem. Luckely, that did not change the problem What ever, I can still not use the WB. Hope to see a solution very soon. Sincerly, Louis

Can you go to the WB configuration folder at C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\MySQL\Workbench\, rename it to something like Workbench.bak and start it?

The bug still exists in V 5.2.44 I just wanted to import a database to a windows machine when this WMI-problem appeared. Google search showed this to be a common bug.

I fixed this by changing the value from 0 to 1 for <value type="int" key="windowsAdmin">1</value> in the server_instances.xml file

I also have this problem and fix it now. My computer is running win 7 32 bit, and my MySql Workbench's version is 5.2.47, WB gives me the err:current profile has no wmi enable when i want to create a server administration, it means WMI cannot find my mysql service, so I try to find if my mysql service is turn on, but i find that mysql service is on, but its name is not mysql but another strang name - "danielwang", so I disable this service and install the mysql service again, and it work.

Verified by Philip in 6.0.2 beta with the following steps: 1- Create a new local connection by clicking add connection and just supplying a name 2- Do not configure remote maangement or anything else 3- Press OK 4- Try to connect and get error in Admin parts 5- Open editor again and save right away without making any explicit changes 6- Connect again 7- Admin parts work

Fixed as of the upcoming MySQL Workbench 6.0.3 release, and here's the changelog entry: When executing an "Administration" task, such as "Manage Security", an "Current Profile Has no WMI enabled" error could be generated for local connections. A workaround was to edit and save the connection, while making edits to the connection was not required. Thank you for the bug report.
