Description:
I thought I had a bug for this but cannot find it. 5.1.54 was released in Nov according to http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/news-5-1-54.html

But source is not at http://downloads.mysql.com/archives.php?p=mysql-5.1

How to repeat:
use the URLs

Suggested fix:
post the tarball

@Mark .. will this help

1) Goto to: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/
2) click link "Looking for previous GA versions?"
3) select platform if you want a binary
4) or select "source code" option for source. At the bottom there is "Generic Linux (Architecture Independent), Compressed TAR Archive"

Yes it is there
But not in the archives section -- http://downloads.mysql.com/archives.php?p=mysql-5.1

That has confused me more than once

in the "source code" section of http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.1.html#downloads ?

i.e http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mirror.php?id=398205

So, what do we consider a bug here? The fact that 5.1.54 is missing on archives page (while sources are still available)?

Can you include it in the archives section? That would reduce the chance that I get confused by this a third time.

5.1.54 (recent version) should be available at http://downloads.mysql.com/archives.php?p=mysql-5.1.

They should but the aren't.

I just tried to summarize what exactly should be fixed/changed :)

At the risk of sounding obvious, isn't it archived yet because it's the current 5.1 version? I would assume that a version gets archived once a newer version is released. Also, it is a bit strange to me that someone goes to the "archives" and expects to find there the current/active version.

I am not a UI expert, but I work with some. I think the current layout at http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/ is confusing. That page presents 5.5 as the current GA release. Off to the right of the screen is a small text box with "Looking for previous GA versions?". You must find that to get the latest 5.1 release. I have missed it multiple times.

I was also confused. it took me 10-15 seconds to realize it was a link.

But I think it is done very consciously to 'urge' people to use 5.5. It is a 'bad UI design per choice' I believe. But both 5.1 and 5.5 are fully supported trees and I can only agree with mark.

closing this now, I see 5.1.54 at
http://downloads.mysql.com/archives.php?p=mysql-5.1&v=5.1.54
