Description:
Windows 7 64 bit
Open Workbech, Click on "New Server Instance", select localhost, enter in username and default schema, Test the database connection works after you enter the password, click next.

Error happens here:
Set Windows configuration parameters for this machine screen. 
Attempt to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. Unable to go to the next screen, anytime I try to locate the configuration file this error repeats itself.

Elevated privledges to Administrator, same error as above at the same location.

No, it is not setup as a service.

Then it looks like a known problem. Please, check if adding a service for MySQL server will help to prevent this failure.
