Description:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/supported-os.html

Supported platforms listed include "Linux, builds on all fairly recent Linux distributions with glibc 2.3"

According to http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/glibc/ (and similar resources) glibc 2.3 is now not 'fairly recent' anymore (the last 2.3 - 2.3.6 - seems to be from the year 2005)

(and I also believe that some of the (dynamically linked at least) Linux binaries provided by MySQL/Oracle are built on systems with a higher glibc version than 2.3.

How to repeat:
See above

Suggested fix:
Update documentation.
