I'm trying to install MySQL 5.5 on Windows 7 Ultimate which is connected to a Net Gear switch via Linksys Router. Everything goes fine until I get to 'apply security settings' while running MySQL Server Instance Configuration Wizard. The error message is: 1364 'authentication_string' doesn't have a default value. If a personal firewall is running on your machine, please make sure you have opened the TCP port 3309 for connections...

I have set my machine's IP address to static and opend port 3309 on Linksys Router and Windows 7 Firewall. What am I doing wrong that's preventing me completing the install?

Any advice/solutions will be greately appreciated it!

How to repeat:
See description

Suggested fix:
Fix the script that the installer uses to "apply security settings"
