Description:
There is a need for a "pre-login message", equivalent to the unix /etc/issue.net file which can contain useful information for users before logging in.

Use cases:

1. To inform users of future maintenance work (like I'm about to upgrade the dashboard from 2.2 to 2.3 in a few minutes)
2. To inform users of other things such as (access is via the standard LDAP user/password mechanism)
3. To inform users of the location of the other merlin servers (we have more than 50 registered users now, and most are "occasional devs" who use merlin but use it rarely).

How to repeat:
N/A

Suggested fix:
This type of information could be provided on the current login page. It's also something that will vary according to site usage. The page needs to store several lines of text.

Possibly also _remove_ the current version number from the footer. This may be a security risk if you don't want to show it, and allow something similar to /etc/issue.net such as using special symbols to represent the merlin version and hostname.

I use mySQL on various servers -- It would be nice to see a variable added to the [mysql] section as
header="Welcome to the XYZ Corp web3 server"

be really nice if you could include a '\n' line feed

Hi Russ,

This bug is specifically about the MySQL Enterprise Monitor, not the server or the command-line client interface. Kudos to you for searching for bugs before creating a new one, but this is not the bug you're looking for. :)

All the best…
