Description:
I have installed the MySQL Workbench 5.2.30. The Startup and Configuartion tabs are disabled and displaying the following message:

Remote administration is disabled.
To use this functioinality, the server where MySQL is located must either have SSH server is running or alternatively, if it is a Windows machine, must have WMI is enabled. Additionaly you must enable remote administration in the server profile, providing login details for it.

The MySQL server is installed on Winodws XP machine and its version is 5.2 community edition.
In the Server Instance Window there are two options for remote management 
1. Do not use remote management
2. SSH login based management

I have selected the do not use remote management.

How to repeat:
Install the MySQL Workbench on Windows XP with Service Pack 3. Make a new connection in the MySQL Workbench and double click the new connection.

Suggested fix:
The remote management should be enabled as it was previously available in the MySQL Administration Tools.

Please, check if newer version, 5.2.31, solves the problem for you.

After installation of MySQL Workbench 5.3.31 the issue resolved.
