It's about some months that I have been using Workbench as my MySQL management IDE. In this time, I had to uninstall it for different reasons, and then reinstall it again. The problem is that whenever I want to reinstall Workbench, I have to define and give settings to make connections to different databases again. I could not find any feature for exporting connection settings to import them for avoiding a repetitive work again and again. I think such a useful feature can help everyone to use this lovely IDE more comfortable. Good luck.

You can copy the connections.xml and server_instances.xml files to the new machine. The location of the config dir with these files can be found with the Help -> System Info command

Thank you for your reply. I checked system info. But I could not find any of those files in the installation directory. What should I do ?

Check "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\MySQL\Workbench" directory.

So, do you still need any new feature to solve "export settings" problem?

I solved my problem using your assistance. but you know, I think there are lots of users who don't know your solution for this. So still I believe that if there be a special feature to export workbench settings to a file and users can use it to set those settings to the new installed program, it could be very useful than when a user wants to copy some files himself/herself. However, I really thank you for your attention and guidance. (Sorry if I had mistakes in my sentences, I'm not very good in Eng.)

It took me several hours to find this article. It'll save a lot of people a lot of hours if this feature is a button/menu in the workbench.
