This is related to http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=58349 where I noticed that for MySQL-related records in the Windows event viewer 'Source' are listed as 'MySQL" (with no version indication).

How to repeat:
see above

Suggested fix:
On Windows the server will write to the system Event Log if an error or warning occurs before service is 'up and running'. If multiple MySQL versions are installed, the Event Viewer does not expose which of the instances raised the condition.

Please add version information in the log message in order to solve this.
