Description:
Default install of 5.5.7 on Windows Vista 32 system installed in the wrong directory. On my system it installed in "c:\program files\Software By Design" which has nothing to do with MySQL (and that was not a nice place to install).

Uninstalling and reinstalling in Custom mode shows the same default location in the Custom Setup screen but it did allow me to change it to "c:\program files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5".

How to repeat:
Uninstall and install again.

I couldn't repeat on Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bits.

Thank you for the report.

Please try with version 5.5.8 and if problem still exists check if something had not changed default program installation path on your system. Probably some user actions or virus software.

The old plain msi installers have been superseded by the MySQL Installer for Windows, and this could not be reproduced. Thus closing.
