Description:
I have the latest (4.1.5-gamma) installed on a Windows 2003 Server (2.4ghz) . I use mysql-nt service.

The time that it takes to connect (to port 3306) is about 1 second via telnet or a php-script. I connect through my internal network which has ping times < 1 ms. I also tried connecting from PHP5 and ODBC = same delay.

When installing older versions like 4.0.20a there is no delay when connecting. Upgrading is useless now because of this delay. I have also tried this on a Windows XP on another computer 3.2 Ghz. Same connect delay.

I have no firewalls installed between the computers. The only thing installed on Windows 2003 is the MySql service.

How to repeat:
Just install 4.1.5 on Windows 2003. Try to test a connection with odbc on the same network. You will notice a 1 or more seconds delay before you get any answer.

I had the same problem, i changed my libmysql.dll library from client side and the delay got out

Could you explain the libmysql.dll library change in more detail?

I did the test on my small lan, running the server on host Windows 2003/2002/XP
and using Connector/ODBC from a Win98. The response for me was immediate.

Please elaborate how you did the test.
