Description:
The workbench crashes on startup and there's no way to get it to work, after upgrading to ATI Catalyst drivers v2010.0825.2146.37182 for an ATI Radeon HD 4200.

The crash reports a failure in ATIGLXX.dll.

I thought it was related to a dual-screen setup with extended desktop but it's not. It's reproducible on a single screen as well.

This card is an embedded graphics controller used by many motherboards - so this is a VERY SEVERE problem.

Obviously -reinstalling and cleaning the installation did not solve the problem.

How to repeat:
Get a machine with XP64bit, install latest Catalyst drivers and off you go.

Update:
After having reinstalled multiple different packages related to ATI (older driver packages which also screwed up my system) and the AMD chipsets, AND after having rebooted - the problem has been solved.

It appears to be some weird combination of Catalyst Control Center which is built on top of .NET and MySQL Workbench that leads to failure.
In any case, now it's working with the same Catalyst version.
