Description:
I removed what I thought was MySQL Net Connector from control panel but I think it was just .NET Connector or something similar. After I removed this program, I noticed I still have C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Net Connector 6.2.3\ … so I deleted the entire MySQL folder. I tried installing a newer version of MySQL Net Connector and it said it was still installed. I went back into control panel and noticed it was there. I removed MySQL Net Connector. At the end of removing it I received a message saying Fatal Error cannot remove and the program didn’t disappear from the list.

I couldn't modify it, repair it, remove it, etc. I removed the program from the list with “Windows Install Cleanup” and deleted all traces of MySQL from the system registry. I didn’t see anything in my machine.config for my most current .Net Framework which had a modified date of today.

I tried to install the newer version again and am getting the error setup wizard ended prematurely because of an error. This happens with full or even custom install using only the core components selected.

This is unreal ... No list anywhere of what get's modified during install so I can reverse the process and uninstall? How about where a log might be kept so I can post it and get this fixed?

How to repeat:
See above.

Suggested fix:
Perhaps a list of what happens during an install so someone can actually delete all traces of this software???

Fixed ... when I was downloading the newer Net Connector it was taking a while so I started downloading it from another mirror. The first one finished shortly after so I canceled the second download. Google Chrome had the canceled one listed in the downloads and I was using that file without realizing it. After using the fully downloaded setup it installed.

So, do you still see something in MySQL software that should be fixed, based on this your problem?
